Board certified plastic surgeons Gabriel M. Kind, MD and David S. Chang, MD are two of the most highly respected surgeons in San Francisco.

 

Dr Kind and Dr. Chang have a combined 40 years of experience taking care of patients in San Francisco.  They both perform the latest in breast reconstruction procedures including microsurgical tissue transfer (eg. DIEP flap), implant reconstruction, and fat grafting.

Dr. Kind believes that excellence in surgery and the compassionate care of patients must go hand in hand. Dr. Kind strives to provide his patients with the best possible result.

Gabriel M. Kind M.D. graduated with honors from Dartmouth College, and received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago. He then was fully trained in General Surgery at Rush Presbyterian St.Luke's Medical Center. Dr. Kind returned to Northwestern University - McGaw Medical Center for a three-year residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. After completing his plastic surgical training, Dr. Kind was awarded a one-year fellowship in Hand and Microsurgery at the Davies Medical Center (now part of California-Pacific Medical Center) in San Francisco.

Dr. Kind was Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery, by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and received Subspecialty Certification Surgery of the Hand from the American Board of Surgery.

Dr. Kind has had a long interest in microsurgical breast reconstruction, and was among the first surgeons to perform the DIEP flap for breast reconstruction on the West Coast.  He is a Director of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and a Senior Board Examiner for the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

San Francisco plastic surgeon David S. Chang believes that a great result in plastic surgery starts with individualized care that comes from listening to the needs of his patients and paying attention to the details. Whether it is a cosmetic or reconstructive procedure, Dr. Chang personalizes his approach to each of his patients to achieve the best results possible.

Dr. David S. Chang graduated with honors from Dartmouth College, where he played varsity lacrosse for four years.  He received his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine.  Dr. Chang completed his training in general surgery at the prestigious University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).  During his training he completed a research fellowship in vascular biology at the Pacific Vascular Research Laboratory.  Dr. Chang continued his specialty training in plastic surgery at UCSF and is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Upon completion of his plastic surgery training, Dr. Chang was recruited to work on the faculty at UCSF, where he was Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery in the Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.  He was active in teaching medical students and residents the art of plastic surgery, and has authored several textbook chapters and articles on plastic surgery.  Since 2009, Dr. Chang has been in private practice in San Francisco and the East Bay, but he continues to be on the volunteer clinical faculty at UCSF.  Dr. Chang specializes in all areas of plastic surgery, including cosmetic surgery of the face and body.  He also has a particular interest and experience in breast reconstruction, including the DIEP flap after mastectomy, an area that he finds especially rewarding.

Dr. Chang is a member of The American Society of Plastic Surgeons, The American Society for Aesthetic Surgery, and The American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has been voted to the Castle and Connolly Top Doctors list.

 Lindsey Jankowski is an NCCPA-certified Physician Assistant who completed her degree at the University of Iowa in 2020. Originally from Southwestern Colorado, Lindsey graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology in 2015 and a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences in 2016. Prior to attending PA school, she worked at a research laboratory at the University of Colorado Boulder where she studied the physiology of aging with a focus on vascular aging. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, biking, and skiing. Within the practice, she assists in the operating room and sees patients in the clinic and hospital before and after surgery.
