Gabriel M. Kind, MD and David S. Chang, MD are Board certified plastic surgeons and are two of the most highly respected surgeons in San Francisco.

Dr. Kind and Dr. Chang have over 40 combined years of experience taking care of patients in San Francisco and Northern California.  They both perform the latest in breast reconstruction procedures including microsurgical tissue transfer (eg. DIEP and PAP flaps), implant reconstruction, oncoplastic reconstruction, and autologous fat grafting. Together, they have performed well over 1000 microsurgical breast reconstructions.

Breast reconstruction is both challenging and rewarding. Not one approach or option is best for everyone. Dr. Kind and Dr. Chang will listen to your concerns and questions and come up with a plan that best meets a patient’s goals.

Gabriel M. Kind, MD

Dr. Kind believes that excellence in surgery and the compassionate care of patients must go hand in hand. Dr. Kind strives to provide his patients with the best possible result.

Gabriel M. Kind M.D. graduated with honors from Dartmouth College, and received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago. He then was fully trained in General Surgery at Rush Presbyterian St.Luke's Medical Center. Dr. Kind returned to Northwestern University - McGaw Medical Center for a three-year residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. After completing his plastic surgical training, Dr. Kind was awarded a one-year fellowship in Hand and Microsurgery at the Davies Medical Center (now part of California-Pacific Medical Center) in San Francisco.

Dr. Kind was Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery, by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and received Subspecialty Certification Surgery of the Hand from the American Board of Surgery.

Dr. Kind has had a long interest in microsurgical breast reconstruction, and was among the first surgeons to perform the DIEP flap for breast reconstruction on the West Coast.  He is a Director of the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

David S. Chang, MD

San Francisco plastic surgeon David S. Chang believes that a great result in plastic surgery starts with individualized care that comes from listening to the needs of his patients and paying attention to the details. Whether it is a cosmetic or reconstructive procedure, Dr. Chang personalizes his approach to each of his patients to achieve the best results possible.

Dr. David S. Chang graduated with honors from Dartmouth College. He received his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine and completed training in general surgery and plastic surgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Chang has a particular interest and experience in breast reconstruction, an area that he finds especially rewarding. He and Dr. Kind have the most experience in Northern California performing the DIEP flap after mastectomy.

Dr. Chang is a member of The American Society of Plastic Surgeons, The American Society for Aesthetic Surgery, and The American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has been voted to the Castle and Connolly Top Doctors list.

Anna Riley Crenshaw, PA-C

 Anna Riley Crenshaw, PA-C graduated from the University of Southern California in 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Sciences. During her undergraduate studies, she gained valuable healthcare experience by volunteering at the Orthopedic Institute for Children, working in a Pediatrics office, and as a Pharmacy technician trainee. After graduating from USC, Anna Riley pursued a Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas, located near her hometown of Austin. She successfully completed her PA program in May 2023 and earned her NCCPA board certification later that month. Anna Riley works closely alongside Dr. Chang, Dr. Kind, and Candice to provide the best patient care possible, in the operating room, clinic, and across hospital settings.
